EPC materials

From MTO to issue at site, joined to the system you run.

Material management systems cover MTO to receiving well. The weak link is everything after the truck arrives: where a crate is in the laydown yard, whether its preservation is current, and whether it was issued to the right work package. That is the part we build, joined to the system you already run.

// what matters here

What is different in this industry.

01

From MTO to issue, in one trace

MTO lines, requisitions, POs, expediting, inspection and release, shipping, receiving, laydown, issue to construction and surplus, linked item by item through the APIs of the systems you run.

02

Heat numbers and certificates

Heat numbers and MTR certificates attached at receiving and carried to the installed location, so traceability does not end at the warehouse door.

03

Found in seconds, not hours

Passive UHF RFID on metal, GPS on large items and QR or barcodes on everything else, with the reader mix chosen per area after a site survey.

04

Works where the site is

Offline devices and an edge box per remote area, so receiving and issue keep going when the link to head office does not.

Example projectWeb appMobile appMaterials tracking

Laydown yard app with RFID

Hypothetical. Not a client, not a result.

// The problem

On a large mining or processing project, crews lose hours finding materials the materials system says were received, and surplus is only found at the end of the job.

// What we would build

A yard and site warehouse app on rugged Android devices that reads RFID and barcodes, works offline at the far end of the site, locates crates and large items by GPS, and keeps receiving, preservation and issue to construction in step with SmartPlant Materials and SAP through their APIs.

// What is in it

  • Receiving against POs and packing lists, with heat numbers and MTR certificates attached to each item
  • Laydown yard and warehouse locations by row and bay, found by RFID read, GPS or scan
  • Preservation schedules and inspections, with reminders and photos
  • Issue to construction against work packages, and surplus at close-out
  • Offline on site, with an edge box per remote area that syncs when the link returns
  • Integrates with SmartPlant Materials and SAP through their APIs; you supply the access

// Stack

  • Next.js
  • React Native
  • PostgreSQL
  • RFID readers and on-metal tags
  • Azure with Entra ID sign-in
  • Edge gateways on site

// questions

Questions we get about this.

Does this replace SmartPlant Materials or AVEVA ERM?

No. It integrates with them through their APIs and covers the yard and site warehouse work they are not built for. You supply the API access and licences.

RFID, GPS or barcodes?

Usually all three: on-metal RFID for pipe and steel, GPS for large modules and equipment, barcodes or QR for the rest. A site survey decides the mix before hardware is ordered.

Who installs the readers and gateways?

A local contractor, with our layout and configuration. The estimate shows an indicative range for that work separately from our price.
