Clinician credentials

A private ledger for shared clinician credentialing.

Credentialing is a record several organisations rely on and none of them should be able to rewrite. That narrow case is where a private ledger beats a shared database. Patient records do not belong on any chain, and we do not put them there.

// what matters here

What is different in this industry.

01

Verified once, accepted by all

When one organisation checks a licence, the check is recorded with who did it and when, and the others in the network can rely on it.

02

No patient data on the chain

The ledger holds credentials and verification records only. Health records stay in your clinical systems.

03

A node per organisation

Each hospital or clinic group runs a node, so no single member holds the only copy and a changed record shows.

04

Ready for accreditation

Every verification and every privilege granted has a trail you can export for an accreditation review.

Shared clinician credential ledger

Hypothetical. Not a client, not a result.

// The problem

Clinicians who work across several hospitals and clinic groups are credentialed again by each one, with the same licences and certificates checked by email every time.

// What we would build

A credentialing portal where each organisation records the checks it has done, on a private permissioned ledger the organisations each run a node of, so a verified licence or certificate is accepted by the others and nobody can alter a past record.

// What is in it

  • Clinician profiles, licences and certificates uploaded once
  • Each verification recorded on a private chain with a node per organisation
  • Expiry alerts for licences, certifications and insurance
  • Privileges granted per site, visible to the organisations that share them
  • Audit export for accreditation reviews

// Stack

  • Next.js
  • PostgreSQL
  • Hyperledger Besu (private, permissioned)
  • S3-compatible storage
  • AWS (Canada region)

// questions

Questions we get about this.

Would a shared database not be simpler?

If one body runs the register and every member trusts it, yes, and we will build that instead. The ledger earns its cost when several organisations write to it and each needs proof the others cannot change it.

Do clinicians have to use a crypto wallet?

No. Clinicians sign in to a portal with their email and upload their documents. The ledger sits behind it.

Does this replace the licensing college's register?

No. The college remains the source of truth for licences. The ledger records that each organisation checked it, and when.
