Bylaws assistant

Answers from your own documents, with the article quoted.

Members want to know what the agreement or the bylaws say, now, and stewards answer the same questions all week. We build an assistant that answers only from your own documents, quotes where it found the answer, and passes anything personal to a steward or staff member.

// what matters here

What is different in this industry.

01

Only your documents

Answers come from your agreement, bylaws and policies, never from the open web.

02

The article quoted

Every answer names the article and page, so a steward can check it in seconds.

03

Explains, never advises

It says what the documents say. Questions about a member's own case go to a person.

04

On servers you control

An open-source model where member questions must stay with you, or a frontier model for a public help centre.

Assistant over bylaws and agreements

Hypothetical. Not a client, not a result.

// The problem

A union local's stewards and staff answer the same questions every day about overtime, leave and seniority, from a collective agreement and bylaws that run to hundreds of pages.

// What we would build

An assistant for members and stewards that answers from your own collective agreement, bylaws and policies, quotes the article it used, and sends anything about a member's own case to a steward. It runs on an open-source model on servers you control, explains what the documents say, and gives no legal advice.

// What is in it

  • Answers from your agreement, bylaws and policies only
  • The article and page quoted with every answer
  • Anything about a member's own case sent to a steward
  • Runs on servers you control, with no member questions sent outside
  • A set of real questions run before every change

Bilingual chamber site and help

Hypothetical. Not a client, not a result.

// The problem

A chamber of commerce runs its events, member directory and newsletters in English, while many of its members work in French, and staff answer the same questions about events and benefits by phone.

// What we would build

A new site in English and French with events and registration, a member directory members keep up to date, and a help centre with an assistant that answers from your own pages in either language and hands anything about a member's account to staff. Your team approves every translation.

// What is in it

  • Site, events and directory in English and French
  • Members update their own directory listing
  • Event registration with reminders
  • A help centre with an assistant that cites its page
  • Translations approved by your team before they go live

// questions

Questions we get about this.

Will the assistant tell a member whether to file a grievance?

No. It explains what the agreement says and sends the member to a steward for anything about their own situation.

What happens when a new collective agreement is ratified?

Your staff load the new agreement, the test questions are run again, and the old one is kept for questions about past periods.

Can it answer in French as well as English?

Yes, where your documents exist in both languages, or with translations your organisation approves.

Not quite your project?

Tell us what you have in mind. We will come back to you with a range and the questions that would narrow it. Or book a call and talk it through.
