Biotech lab apps

Inventory, requests and records your scientists will actually use.

Lab software has to work with gloves on, at the freezer, between runs. We build apps that are quick to use at the bench, track every sample and change, and fit the rules your scientists and quality people already follow, so the spreadsheet can finally be retired.

// what matters here

What is different in this industry.

01

Made for the bench

Scan a tube, see its history, move it, done. Screens built for a phone or tablet beside the freezer.

02

Every change logged

Who moved, used or disposed of what, and when, kept for as long as your rules require.

03

Linked to your notebook

Samples link to the experiment that made or used them, in the ELN you already use.

04

Your rules, not ours

Sign-off, roles and retention follow what your quality team sets. We build to it; we do not give regulatory advice.

Sample and freezer inventory

Hypothetical. Not a client, not a result.

// The problem

A discovery biotech keeps thousands of samples across freezers and a liquid nitrogen store, tracked on a spreadsheet, and scientists lose hours looking for aliquots that were used up months ago.

// What we would build

An inventory app for samples, reagents and storage, with every tube and box labelled with a barcode, scanned in and out from a phone or a cordless scanner, and each sample linked to the experiment in your lab notebook that used it.

// What is in it

  • Freezers, racks, boxes and positions mapped, down to the slot
  • Barcode labels printed for tubes and boxes, scanned on phones or cordless scanners
  • Samples and aliquots with their parent, volume and history
  • Reagents with lot numbers and low-stock alerts
  • Links to the lab notebook entry that created or used each sample
  • A log of every move, use and disposal

Contract lab portal for sponsors

Hypothetical. Not a client, not a result.

// The problem

A contract research lab takes study requests and sends results by email, sponsors in several countries ask the same status questions every week, and the lab's site does not look like the work it does.

// What we would build

A sponsor portal designed for your lab: sponsors submit requests, track their samples and studies, and download reports, with a help centre and an assistant that answers from it in the languages your sponsors use, handing anything about a study to your project managers.

// What is in it

  • A portal and site designed around your lab's brand
  • Study requests, sample shipments and status in one place for each sponsor
  • Reports released by your team, downloaded by the sponsor
  • A help centre in several languages, with an assistant that answers from it
  • Anything about a specific study handed to a project manager

LIMS reviewed, then rescued

Hypothetical. Not a client, not a result.

// The problem

A contract lab still runs its studies on a LIMS built in Access fifteen years ago, a vendor replacement stalled half done, and nobody can say which of the two to trust.

// What we would build

We start with an architecture review of the old system and the stalled one, and write down what is worth keeping. Then we rescue the work: a web LIMS built to the requirements your quality team sets, every record moved and checked, and the old database kept read-only until your team signs off.

// What is in it

  • A written review of the old LIMS and the stalled replacement, yours to keep
  • Samples, studies, results and audit history moved out of Access, and checked with your team
  • Roles, electronic sign-off and a full audit trail, to the requirements your quality team sets
  • Instrument results and reports carried across
  • The old database kept read-only until you retire it
  • Milestones you sign off, each one shown working

// questions

Questions we get about this.

Can our lab print barcode labels that survive the freezer?

Yes. We use label printers and labels made for cryogenic storage, and we test them in your freezers before we roll out.

Will a sample inventory work with the ELN we already use?

Usually. Most lab notebooks publish an API. We check yours before we quote.

Can sponsors of our contract lab log in and see their own studies?

Yes. Each sponsor sees only its own requests, samples and released reports.
