Lab data, in order

Every sample, run and result where your team can find it.

Your science moves fast, and the software around it rarely keeps up. Samples sit in freezers tracked on a spreadsheet, instrument files fill a shared drive, and the notebook and the LIMS never agree. We build the systems that keep it straight: inventory, data pipelines, integrations and dashboards, built to the rules your own scientists and quality people set.

// what you are up against

The problems we hear most.

01

Freezers tracked on a spreadsheet

Boxes, racks and aliquots are listed in a file one person updates, and finding a sample means opening the freezer and looking.

02

Instrument files on a shared drive

Plate readers, sequencers and mass specs each write their own files, and someone copies the results into a sheet by hand.

03

A notebook and a LIMS that never agree

Experiments are written up in one system, samples are logged in another, and nobody trusts either to be complete.

04

The same charts for every board meeting

Assay results, milestones and spend are rebuilt by hand for each investor update and grant report.

Sample and freezer inventory

Hypothetical. Not a client, not a result.

// The problem

A discovery biotech keeps thousands of samples across freezers and a liquid nitrogen store, tracked on a spreadsheet, and scientists lose hours looking for aliquots that were used up months ago.

// What we would build

An inventory app for samples, reagents and storage, with every tube and box labelled with a barcode, scanned in and out from a phone or a cordless scanner, and each sample linked to the experiment in your lab notebook that used it.

// What is in it

  • Freezers, racks, boxes and positions mapped, down to the slot
  • Barcode labels printed for tubes and boxes, scanned on phones or cordless scanners
  • Samples and aliquots with their parent, volume and history
  • Reagents with lot numbers and low-stock alerts
  • Links to the lab notebook entry that created or used each sample
  • A log of every move, use and disposal

Instrument data pipeline and assay dashboards

Hypothetical. Not a client, not a result.

// The problem

A screening lab's plate readers and analysers write files to a shared drive, and a scientist copies the numbers into a spreadsheet before anyone can see a dose response curve.

// What we would build

Instrument files picked up as they are written, stored in managed cloud storage, parsed into one database with the plate map and the sample IDs, and shown as assay dashboards your team and your board can read. We run the pipeline for you, with monitoring and backups.

// What is in it

  • Files collected from each instrument as they are written, with nothing copied by hand
  • Parsers for each instrument's export format, checked against your own past runs
  • Plate maps and sample IDs joined to every result
  • Assay dashboards with curves, controls and run history
  • A board and grant pack drawn from the same data each quarter
  • Managed hosting with monitoring, backups and alerts

A hub between your lab systems

Hypothetical. Not a client, not a result.

// The problem

A contract research lab runs an electronic lab notebook, a LIMS, a freezer inventory and a handful of instruments, and every hand-off between them is a person retyping IDs.

// What we would build

An internal integration hub that joins your notebook, LIMS, inventory and instruments through their published APIs, so a sample registered once appears everywhere it is needed, results flow back to the right record, and every sync is logged. We check each system's API before we quote.

// What is in it

  • Connectors for your ELN, LIMS, inventory and instrument software
  • One sample ID carried across every system
  • Results written back to the right experiment and sample
  • Webhooks so each system hears about changes as they happen
  • A log of every sync, with failures flagged to your team
  • Documented with OpenAPI, so your own staff can extend it

LIMS reviewed, then rescued

Hypothetical. Not a client, not a result.

// The problem

A contract lab still runs its studies on a LIMS built in Access fifteen years ago, a vendor replacement stalled half done, and nobody can say which of the two to trust.

// What we would build

We start with an architecture review of the old system and the stalled one, and write down what is worth keeping. Then we rescue the work: a web LIMS built to the requirements your quality team sets, every record moved and checked, and the old database kept read-only until your team signs off.

// What is in it

  • A written review of the old LIMS and the stalled replacement, yours to keep
  • Samples, studies, results and audit history moved out of Access, and checked with your team
  • Roles, electronic sign-off and a full audit trail, to the requirements your quality team sets
  • Instrument results and reports carried across
  • The old database kept read-only until you retire it
  • Milestones you sign off, each one shown working

Literature assistant on a private model

Hypothetical. Not a client, not a result.

// The problem

A biotech's scientists spend hours each week searching papers, patents and their own internal reports, and the company will not paste unpublished work into a public chatbot.

// What we would build

A literature assistant on an open-source model that runs on GPUs we set up for you, so nothing leaves your control. It searches the papers you choose, your internal reports and your notebook exports, answers with the passages it used, and says when it does not know. It helps your scientists read; it does not make scientific or medical judgements.

// What is in it

  • An open-source model served on GPUs set up for you, never a public chatbot
  • Search across papers, patents, internal reports and notebook exports
  • Answers that quote and link the passages they used
  • Access by role, so confidential programmes stay with their teams

Contract lab portal for sponsors

Hypothetical. Not a client, not a result.

// The problem

Shared record of sample custody

Hypothetical. Not a client, not a result.

// The problem

A biotech, two contract labs and a university partner pass samples and results between them, and each keeps its own record of what was sent, received and released, which never quite match.

// What we would build

A shared web app where each organisation records samples sent, received and released, with every hand-off written to a private permissioned ledger that each partner runs a node of. A shared database run by one partner, or signed PDFs, often do this job; the ledger helps when several organisations need one record that no single party controls.

// What is in it

  • Shipments and receipts recorded by both sides
  • Each hand-off written to a private ledger with a node per organisation
  • Result releases recorded, with the files kept off the ledger
  • Each partner sees only the samples it is part of
  • A plain read-out of the record any partner can download

// questions

What buyers in this industry ask us.

Do you give scientific, medical or regulatory advice?

No. We build software to the requirements your scientists, quality team and advisers set. Study design, validation and sign-off stay with them.

Where are you, and who do you work with?

We are in British Columbia and work with labs and research companies anywhere; we set our working hours around yours. Prices are in Canadian dollars.

How do payments work?

A deposit to start, then payments at agreed milestones, with 10% held until 30 days after launch. The deposit is a smaller share on larger projects.

Who owns the software and the data?

You do, once the work is paid for, including your data, your models' settings and the code.
