Crypto donations

Donation pages for charities, with receipts done right.

Accepting crypto is a narrow, practical job: take the gift safely, record its value when it arrived and receipt it properly. We build a donation page that does that into a wallet the charity controls. For many organisations, a donation platform that converts crypto on their behalf is simpler, and we will tell you if that is you.

// what matters here

What is different in this industry.

01

The charity holds the keys

Gifts go to a multisig wallet your board controls, with several signers, so no single person or vendor can move the funds.

02

Value recorded on the day

Each gift is stored with its market value at the time it arrived, from a named price source, which is what your accountant will ask for.

03

Receipting through finance

Donor details and gift records go to your finance team, who issue receipts under the guidance that applies to gifts of property. We do not give tax advice.

04

No speculation

The page accepts gifts and nothing else. Whether to hold or convert is the board's decision, and the page makes no claims about any asset's value.

Crypto donations with receipts

Hypothetical. Not a client, not a result.

// The problem

Supporters offer gifts of cryptocurrency, but the charity has no safe way to accept them, no record of their value on the day and no process for receipts.

// What we would build

A donation page where supporters give from their own wallet to an address the charity controls, with each gift recorded with its value on the day and passed to the finance team for receipting. Many charities are better served by a donation platform that converts crypto for them, and we will say so when that fits.

// What is in it

  • A donation page with wallet connection on the main networks
  • Gifts sent to a multisig wallet the charity controls, not held by us
  • Each gift recorded with the market value at the time it was received
  • Donor details collected for receipting, with consent
  • A finance view to reconcile gifts and hand them to your accountant

// questions

Questions we get about this.

Can a charity receipt crypto donations?

That depends on the rules for gifts of property and your own policy, which your accountant and CRA guidance settle. The page records what your finance team needs to decide and to issue a receipt.

Which coins can the crypto donation page accept?

Bitcoin, Ether and the main stablecoins on the networks your supporters use. Each one added is a little more work and a little more for finance to reconcile, so we start with few.

Should we convert crypto donations straight away?

That is a decision for your board and finance team. The page can support either, and records the value on the day either way.
