Shared visit records

One record of each visit that nobody can quietly change.

When an agency, families and a funder each keep their own record of visits, disputes take weeks. A private ledger they share settles which visits happened. When everyone already trusts the agency's records, a database with the same views is cheaper, and we will build that instead.

// what matters here

What is different in this industry.

01

Recorded at the visit

Check-in and check-out are written when they happen, from the caregiver's phone.

02

No one can rewrite it

The agency and funder each run a node, so a visit cannot be changed by one party.

03

Families see their own

Families see their own parent's visits, and nothing else.

04

Times, not care notes

Only visit times are shared on the ledger. Care notes stay with the care team.

Visit records shared with families and funders

Hypothetical. Not a client, not a result.

// The problem

A home care agency, the families it serves and a public funder each keep their own record of which visits happened, and disputes over missed or shortened visits take weeks to settle.

// What we would build

Each visit's check-in and check-out recorded on a private permissioned ledger the agency and the funder run nodes of, with families able to see their own parent's visits, so nobody can quietly change a visit after the fact. If the agency's own records are trusted by everyone, a database with the same views is simpler, and we will say so.

// What is in it

  • Check-in and check-out recorded at the visit
  • Families see their own parent's visits
  • Funders check visits without asking for timesheets
  • No party can change a visit record alone
  • Only visit times are shared, never care notes

// questions

Questions we get about this.

Why use a ledger for home care visit records instead of a database?

Only when the agency and a funder want a record neither controls. If everyone trusts the agency's records, a database is the better choice.

Do families need a wallet to see visit records?

No. They sign in to the family portal. The ledger stays behind the scenes.

Are care notes stored on the visit ledger?

No. Only visit times and who visited are recorded. Care notes stay in your care system.
