Funder attendance

One attendance record for centres and the funder.

Most centres are better served by a database and a good report, and we will say so. A shared ledger earns its cost only when several operators and a funder want an attendance record none of them controls, so claims and audits are checked against the same totals.

// what matters here

What is different in this industry.

01

Recorded from sign-in

Daily totals come straight from the sign-in records, not a monthly spreadsheet.

02

No one can rewrite it

The centres and the funder each run a node, so past attendance cannot be changed by one party.

03

Totals, never children

Only attendance totals are shared. Children's details stay with the centre.

04

Reports the funder asks for

Claims and reports are produced in the format your funder uses.

Attendance records shared with a funder

Hypothetical. Not a client, not a result.

// The problem

Centres receiving public childcare funding send monthly attendance reports to the funder, and every audit means matching sign-in sheets, spreadsheets and claims line by line.

// What we would build

Each day's attendance totals recorded on a private permissioned ledger the centres and the funder run nodes of, so subsidy claims are checked against one record nobody can rewrite. Most centres are better served by a database and a good report, and we will say so; the ledger earns its cost only when several operators and a funder want a record none of them controls.

// What is in it

  • Daily attendance totals recorded from sign-in
  • Claims checked against the same record
  • No party can change past attendance alone
  • Only totals are shared, never children's details
  • Reports in the format your funder asks for

// questions

Questions we get about this.

Why use a ledger for childcare attendance instead of a database?

Only when several operators and a funder want a record none of them controls. Otherwise a database is the better choice.

Are children's names stored on the attendance ledger?

No. Only daily totals by centre and age group are recorded.

Does the funder need to run its own node?

It can, or we host one for it. The point is that no single centre holds the record alone.
