Software for insurers

For the policyholder's worst day and the adjuster's busiest.

A claim is the moment you keep your promise or lose a customer. We build the app your policyholders report on, the portal your adjusters work in, the models that sort the photos and the shared records carriers settle recoveries through.

// what you are up against

The problems we hear most.

01

First notice of loss by phone

A policyholder calls, waits, repeats the story, then emails photos to an address they were read over the phone, and the file starts incomplete.

02

Adjusters buried in low-value files

Simple claims take the same handling as complex ones, so experienced adjusters spend their week on files that needed a quick look and a payment.

03

Brokers asking what a wording covers

Underwriters field the same coverage questions from brokers every day, answered from wordings and endorsements that are public but long.

04

Recoveries settled by letter

Subrogation between carriers runs on demand letters, spreadsheets and follow-up calls, and an agreed amount can be disputed months later.

Claims app with an adjuster portal

Hypothetical. Not a client, not a result.

// The problem

Policyholders report claims by phone and send photos by email, so adjusters start each file chasing information instead of assessing it.

// What we would build

An iOS and Android app where policyholders report a loss, add photos and follow their claim, with a web portal for adjusters that assigns files, tracks reserves and talks to the claims system.

// What is in it

  • Guided first notice of loss with photos, location and the other party's details
  • Claim status, messages and requests for documents in the app
  • An adjuster portal with assignment, notes, diary dates and reserves
  • Integration with your claims and policy administration systems
  • English and French throughout, with notices by push, text and email

  • Next.js
  • React Native
  • PostgreSQL
  • Guidewire or claims system API

Vehicle damage photo model

Hypothetical. Not a client, not a result.

// The problem

Every auto claim photo is opened by an adjuster to decide whether the file is a quick repair or a likely total loss, which slows the simple ones down.

// What we would build

A custom vision model fine-tuned on the insurer's own closed claims photos, served in its own AWS account, that sorts new files by likely severity and the parts affected so the adjuster decides faster. A general frontier model does not know your repair outcomes; yours does.

// What is in it

  • A model fine-tuned on your past photos and how each claim was settled
  • Likely severity and affected parts shown to the adjuster, never sent to the customer
  • The adjuster decides; the model routes and suggests
  • Measured against held-out claims before launch and checked for drift after
  • Served in your own cloud account, with photos kept there

Broker policy wording assistant

Hypothetical. Not a client, not a result.

// The problem

Underwriters spend hours a day answering brokers' coverage questions that are answered somewhere in long, public policy wordings and endorsements.

// What we would build

An assistant for brokers that answers from the published wordings and endorsements and quotes the clause, on a frontier model because the documents are public and the traffic is light, which makes it the quickest and least costly route.

// What is in it

  • Wordings and endorsements indexed by product and edition
  • Answers that quote the clause and name the edition it came from
  • Questions it cannot answer passed to an underwriter, with the context
  • No policyholder data sent to the model
  • An evaluation set of real broker questions, checked by underwriting

Subrogation between carriers

Hypothetical. Not a client, not a result.

// The problem

Recoveries between insurers are agreed by letter and phone, each side keeps its own record, and settled amounts are disputed when staff change.

// What we would build

A private permissioned ledger where each participating carrier runs a node and records demands, offers and agreed settlements once, with a web console for recovery staff. Where an industry clearing house already does this, a database behind it is cheaper and we will say so.

// What is in it

  • A node for each participating carrier
  • Demands, offers and settlements recorded once and signed by each side
  • Supporting documents exchanged through the console, with only their fingerprints on the chain
  • Ageing of open recoveries by carrier
  • Exports to each carrier's claims and finance systems

Policy, claims and payments joined

Hypothetical. Not a client, not a result.

// The problem

A carrier's adjusters look up coverage in the policy system, copy it into the claims system, and request payments by email to finance, so every claim waits on someone re-keying something.

// What we would build

Broker quoting tool, rebuilt

Hypothetical. Not a client, not a result.

// The problem

A managing general agent's quoting tool is a desktop program with rating tables inside it; brokers must install it, updates go out by email, and a rate change takes weeks.

// What we would build

A rebuild as a web app for your brokers: the rating rules taken out of the old program, written down and tested against its results, rates kept in tables your underwriters can update with approval, and every quote recorded.

// What is in it

  • Rating rules extracted and tested against the old tool
  • Rates your underwriters update, with approval
  • Brokers quote in a browser, nothing to install
  • Every quote recorded with the rates that produced it

// questions

What buyers in this industry ask us.

Do you build to the rules insurers work under?

Yes. We build to the requirements your compliance team sets out, including PIPEDA and provincial privacy law, OSFI guidelines for federally regulated insurers and the fair treatment of customers expectations of your regulators. We do not give legal advice.

Do you work with MGAs and brokers as well as carriers?

Yes. We are in British Columbia and work with insurers, MGAs and brokers anywhere; prices are in Canadian dollars.

How do payments work?

A deposit to start, then payments at agreed milestones, with 10% held until 30 days after launch. The deposit is a smaller share on larger projects.

Who owns the code and the models?

You do, once the work is paid for, including any model fine-tuned on your claims data.

// where we work

Find your market.

We work from Kelowna with clients across Canada, the United States and further afield. Each market page covers working hours, hosting, the privacy law that applies, and prices in your currency.
