Oil and gas software

It works past the last cell tower.

Your crews write tickets in the truck, inspections go on a clipboard and meter readings stay in the control room. That is three records of one day in the field. We build the systems that join them: apps that work offline, reports that come from the data and records your partners can trust.

// what you are up against

The problems we hear most.

01

Tickets that arrive a week late

Field tickets and run tickets are written on paper or in a spreadsheet, driven back to the office, retyped for invoicing and disputed because the signature is missing.

02

Emissions reports built by hand

Leak surveys, venting and flaring volumes and repair records live in different places, and each reporting period is a scramble to assemble them for the regulator.

03

SCADA that only the control room sees

Pressures, flows and alarms sit in the SCADA system and the historian, while the people deciding where to send a crew work from yesterday's export.

04

Equipment lost between leases

Rental tools, tanks and downhole equipment move from site to site on a truck, and the only record of where they went is the driver's memory.

Offline field ticket app

Hypothetical. Not a client, not a result.

// The problem

An oilfield service company writes field tickets on paper in areas with no signal, and invoices go out late because tickets are lost or unsigned.

// What we would build

An iOS and Android app that captures field tickets, run tickets, hours, equipment and the customer's signature with no signal at all, syncs when a satellite or cell link returns, and turns approved tickets into invoices posted to QuickBooks Online, built on the QuickBooks Online API.

// What is in it

  • Field tickets and run tickets with hours, equipment, materials and photos
  • Customer signature on the device, stored with the ticket and the time
  • Safe work permits and H2S checks attached to the job before work starts
  • Works with no signal and syncs over satellite or cell when it can
  • Approved tickets posted as invoices to QuickBooks Online

Leak surveys and emissions

Hypothetical. Not a client, not a result.

// The problem

An operator's leak detection surveys, repairs and venting volumes live in spreadsheets, field notes and the historian, and every reporting period is assembled by hand.

// What we would build

A field app for leak detection and repair surveys and a web system that joins them with venting and flaring volumes from the historian, so the period's emissions report is built from records with a full audit trail. We scope the federal and Alberta reporting rules with your regulatory team; we do not give legal advice.

// What is in it

  • Survey routes, components and leaks recorded on the device, offline
  • Repairs tracked to closure, with photos and re-survey dates
  • Venting and flaring volumes read from the historian
  • Period reports built from the records, with every change logged
  • Reporting formats set with your regulatory team, editable as rules change

GPS and RFID equipment tracking

Hypothetical. Not a client, not a result.

// The problem

A service company with tools, tanks and downhole equipment spread across dozens of leases cannot say what is where, so it re-rents equipment it already owns.

// What we would build

GPS trackers on tanks and trailers, on-metal RFID tags and labels on tools, handheld readers in the yards, and a map and app that show where every item is, who has it and when it is due for inspection.

// What is in it

Pipeline corrosion model

Hypothetical. Not a client, not a result.

// The problem

Integrity engineers review thousands of photos from digs, drone flights and facility inspections by eye, and the backlog decides which sites are looked at first.

// What we would build

A custom vision model, fine-tuned on the operator's own labelled inspection images, that flags coating damage and corrosion for an engineer to review, served in the operator's own cloud account so the images stay theirs.

// What is in it

  • Images labelled by your integrity team in a simple tool
  • A model fine-tuned on your images and measured on a held-out set
  • A review queue ranked by severity, where engineers confirm or overrule
  • Findings linked to the pipeline segment or facility
  • Overrules saved as the next round of training data

Custody transfer ledger

Hypothetical. Not a client, not a result.

// The problem

An operator, a midstream company and the joint venture partners reconcile measured volumes at custody transfer points every month, and every difference becomes a dispute.

// What we would build

Meter readings at each custody transfer point recorded on a private permissioned ledger that the operator, the midstream company and the main partners each run a node of, with the agreed volumes passed to joint venture and royalty accounting. If one party is trusted by all, a shared database is cheaper, and we will say so.

// What is in it

  • Meter volumes read from the historian at each custody transfer point
  • Each reading and each correction recorded on a private chain with a node per party
  • Monthly allocations agreed on the record, not in a spreadsheet
  • Agreed volumes sent to joint venture and royalty accounting
  • An audit export for partners and auditors

// questions

What buyers in this industry ask us.

Do you work beyond Alberta and British Columbia?

Yes. We are in British Columbia and work with clients anywhere; prices are in Canadian dollars.

Can you tell us what the emissions rules require?

No. We scope and build the reporting with your regulatory team and your advisers, who interpret the rules. We do not give legal or regulatory advice.

How do payments work?

A deposit to start, then payments at agreed milestones, with 10% held until 30 days after launch. The deposit is a smaller share on larger projects.

Who owns the code and the models?

You do, once the work is paid for, including models trained on your inspection images.

// where we work

We work from Kelowna with clients across Canada, the United States and further afield. Each market page covers working hours, hosting, the privacy law that applies, and prices in your currency.
