Restaurant apps

Orders that come to you, not the marketplace.

Delivery marketplaces take a large share of every order, food cost shows up at month end, and your point of sale, scheduler and delivery tablets never agree. We build the ordering apps, kitchen tools and dashboards that let a restaurant group sell direct and see its numbers while they still matter.

// what you are up against

The problems we hear most.

01

The marketplace takes a cut

Delivery marketplaces bring orders and keep the guest, and their commission on each order can be more than the restaurant's margin.

02

Food cost found at month end

Waste, price changes and portions drift through the month, and the food cost number arrives when it is too late to act.

03

Tablets that do not agree

Orders arrive on three delivery tablets, the point of sale and the phone, and staff retype them while the kitchen waits.

04

Every location its own way

Each location runs its own spreadsheets and habits, so the group cannot compare sales, labour or waste fairly.

// example projects

Systems we could build for you.

Each one is hypothetical, labelled as such, and priced live from our rate card. Open any of them in the estimator and make it yours.

Direct ordering and loyalty

Hypothetical. Not a client, not a result.

// The problem

A restaurant group takes most takeout orders through delivery marketplaces, and its own ordering page is slow and does not remember regulars.

// What we would build

A direct ordering website and iOS and Android app for pickup and delivery, with loyalty that rewards ordering direct, menus and prices from the point of sale, and orders sent straight to each kitchen.

// What is in it

  • Pickup and delivery ordering in a few taps
  • Menus, prices and stock from your point of sale
  • Loyalty points and offers for ordering direct
  • Orders sent straight to the right kitchen
  • Allergen information as each location publishes it
  • Your guests' details in your own database

Kitchen and inventory app with food cost

Hypothetical. Not a client, not a result.

// The problem

A group of five restaurants counts stock on clipboards, prices recipes in an old spreadsheet, and finds out its food cost was too high only when the accountant closes the month.

// What we would build

An Android app for kitchen counts, waste and deliveries, and a web app for recipes and food cost, reading sales from the point of sale so theoretical and actual food cost are compared every week.

// What is in it

  • Stock counts and waste logged on a phone in the walk-in
  • Deliveries checked against orders and invoices
  • Recipes costed from current supplier prices
  • Theoretical against actual food cost, weekly
  • Screens in the languages your kitchen speaks

Multi-location sales and labour dashboard

Hypothetical. Not a client, not a result.

// The problem

A franchise owner with eight locations gets sales from the point of sale, labour from the scheduler and delivery from three marketplaces, each in its own report.

// What we would build

A dashboard that reads the point of sale, the scheduler and the delivery marketplaces into one model, so the owner sees sales, labour cost and delivery share by location and by hour, compared fairly.

// What is in it

  • Sales by location, daypart and channel
  • Labour cost as a share of sales, by hour
  • Delivery marketplace share and commission
  • Locations compared on the same terms
  • Exports for the accountant and franchisor

Restaurant systems hub

Hypothetical. Not a client, not a result.

// The problem

A restaurant's staff retype delivery marketplace orders into the point of sale, and someone copies sales into accounting and hours into payroll every week.

// What we would build

An integration hub between the delivery marketplaces, the point of sale, the scheduler, payroll and accounting, so an order lands in the kitchen once and sales and hours reach the books without retyping.

// What is in it

  • Marketplace orders sent straight to the point of sale
  • Menu and price changes pushed to each marketplace
  • Sales posted to accounting, hours to payroll
  • A log of every message, with alerts
  • Documented, so the next system is easy to add

Gift cards shared by independent restaurants

Hypothetical. Not a client, not a result.

// The problem

Independent restaurants on one main street want a gift card guests can spend at any of them, and none wants a rival or a card company to hold the balance and the money.

// What we would build

One gift card across the member restaurants, with each sale and redemption recorded on a private permissioned ledger every restaurant runs a node of, so balances are shared and each restaurant is settled from one record nobody can rewrite. If a business association runs the card and everyone trusts it, a database is simpler, and we will build that.

// What is in it

  • One card and balance across every member restaurant
  • Sold and redeemed through each restaurant's point of sale
  • Settlement between restaurants from the shared record
  • No restaurant can add or change a balance alone
  • Rules for joining and settling agreed by the members

Menu and ordering assistant

Hypothetical. Not a client, not a result.

// The problem

A busy pizzeria misses phone and chat orders at the dinner rush, and staff answer the same questions about hours, delivery areas and specials all evening.

// What we would build

An assistant on the website and chat that answers from the restaurant's own menu and information, takes orders through the point of sale, and passes every allergy question and anything unusual to staff. It uses a frontier model through its API: menus are public and the order volume is moderate.

// What is in it

  • Orders placed through your point of sale
  • Allergy questions always passed to staff
  • Replies in the guest's language
  • No card details in the conversation

// questions

What buyers in this industry ask us.

Do you work with single restaurants and small groups?

Yes. An ordering app or a kitchen app suits a single restaurant, and the estimator shows the range for your scope.

Can you work with our point of sale vendor?

Yes. We work through their interface and agree the boundary with them early.

How do payments work?

A deposit to start, then payments at agreed milestones, with 10% held until 30 days after launch. The deposit is a smaller share on larger projects.

Who owns the code?

You do, once the work is paid for.

// where we work

Find your market.

We work from Kelowna with clients across Canada, the United States and further afield. Each market page covers working hours, hosting, the privacy law that applies, and prices in your currency.
